What is Newcomers of Great Falls? Newcomers of Great Falls is a social and philanthropic club offering you an opportunity to get more involved in the community and meet new and fun people. We are an independent, non-profit organization that has a long History in the community. It was founded in 1982 and has been active in the Great Falls area ever since. As Newcomer members, we share interests and activities while supporting each other in this very special community. Who are the Members? We have members of all ages and interests. Some members have children, others do not. We have stay-at-home moms and working parents. Husbands feel welcome too. We are not an "old-lady" club nor are we "young-family" club; we are truly a club for everyone! Although our name suggests that we are all "Newcomers", our membership is actually made up of both new and long-term residents of the area. You do not have to be new to be a Newcomer! In fact, a large portion of our membership consists of individuals who have been members for many years. There is no time limit on how long you can remain a member (we want you to stay involved)! We actively encourage established residents to join us. It is, however, the regular flow of fresh, just-moved-here "newcomers" (and their ideas) that keeps us dynamic and interesting as a club. Hence, we maintain our name: "Newcomers of Great Falls". We're open to everyone with a Great Falls mailing address as well as those who reside in the Langley school district. What do we do? Newcomers of Great Falls provides all kinds of activities for a variety of interests. We socialize! We support community events! We raise money for charities! We network! We play! We offer lots of ways to make new friends and participate in the community. Our social events include monthly luncheons to try out area restaurants, occasional morning "coffees" in member homes, evening socials and soirees. ÃÂÃÂNewcomers organizes fabulous cultural tours often with professional guides to places you might not normally see like Ellicott City, Waterford, the Supreme Court, and the White House. We offer several special-interest groups. These currently include: Active Women/Sports, All Kinds of Needles, Book Discussion, Bridge (various levels), Dance Club, Dinner Club, Garden Club, Moms and Tots, Nature Walks, and more. Most club activities take place in members homes, and include both day and evening groups. Newcomers participates in many community events associated with Great Falls Village, including Halloween (where our Haunted House is always a huge hit), the Spring Festival, and the 4th of July celebration. ÃÂÃÂWeÃÂÃÂve also gained notoriety for our many successful fundraising events that benefit the local area. Newcomers has raised money for organizations such as Lift Me Up!, the Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Suited for Change, The WomenÃÂÃÂs Center, and many others. Our monthly newsletter is where you will find detailed information about each of our club activities and social gatherings. From Sept - June, our newsletter is mailed monthly to each member's home. Accessible to current members only. For comments about the newsletter, please contact our Newsletter Editor.
