What is Newcomers?
-
Newcomers of Great Falls is a social and philanthropic club designed for women and their families in the Great Falls area. We are an independent, non-profit organization, created in 1982, with the goal of offering friendship and community to our network of approximately 200 members.
Who are the Members?
-
The majority of our members reside in Great Falls, with ages ranging from approximately 25 - 65. We are not an "old-lady" club nor are we "young-family" club; we are a club for everyone! Some members have children, others do not.
-
Although our club name suggests that we are all "Newcomers", our membership is actually made up of both new and long-term residents of the area. In fact, a large portion of our membership have been members for several years and there is no time limit on how long you can remain a member (that's how much fun we are!!). It is, however, the regular flow of fresh, just-moved-here "newcomers" (and their ideas) that keeps us dynamic and interesting as a club. Hence, we maintain our name: "Newcomers of Great Falls".
What do we do?
We Socialize! We Raise Money for Charities! We Network! We Play! Newcomers of Great Falls offers lots of ways to meet people and get involved in the community.
-
We also have several special-interest groups, including: Book Club, Cooking, Bunco, Wine-Tasting, Quilting, Supper Club, Bridge, Theater-Lovers, Mom & Tots (and many more). Most club activities take place in member homes, and include both day and evening groups. Husbands feel welcome too!
-
We have also gained notoriety for our many successful fundraising events that benefit our local area, including Lift Me Up, the Great Falls Volunteer Fire Department and many others. We also organize cultural tours (e.g., White House) of the Washington DC area for our members.
Newcomers of Great Falls publishes a regular Newsletter for its members that details our monthly activities and calendar of social, philanthropic and other events.
